World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2023 USA, Washington DC

The M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centres, Universities, and National Academies will run the World Health Summit Regional Meeting 2023 on April 13th, 2023 in Washington, DC. It will be held under the theme of ‘Bridging the Science to Policy Gap - Opportunities for Academia’ to highlight the essential role of evidence-based science for the development of global health policy. The World Health Summit seeks to actively address global health challenges by bringing together stakeholders from research, education, clinical care and many other disciplines to jointly develop strategies to tackle major healthcare issues. The outcome of each Regional Meeting is intended to inform and influence decision-makers such as governments and supranational agencies, as recommendations for meeting future healthcare challenges.

The WHS Regional Meeting 2023 will be held in partnership with the Annual Conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health (CUGH) CUGH 2023 and the Global Innovation Forum organized by the Association of Academic Health Centers International (AAHCI). Professor Adnan Hyder of the Milken Institute School of Public Health at George Washington University is the International President 2023 and will lead the organization with US-based members of the M8 Alliance. This collaboration strives to join forces for global health and create a unique opportunity for knowledge exchange and partnership building.

The M8 Alliance of Academic Health Centers, Universities and National Academies is the academic foundation of the World Health Summit. It is a growing network and currently consists of 30 members in 20 countries, including the InterAcademy Partnership, which represents the national academies of medicine and science in 130 countries. The M8 Alliance was initiated by Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin in 2009 on the occasion of the first World Health Summit. The goal of the M8 Alliance: Agenda-setting for global health improvement and development of science based solutions to global health challenges. The M8 Alliance organizes annual Regional Meetings in the member countries and the International Presidency of the World Health Summit rotates annually among members of the M8 Alliance.
