SAGES 2027 Annual Meeting

Dear Colleagues:

On behalf of SAGES President Dr. Dana Telem, we are delighted to invite you to the 2027 SAGES Annual Meeting, April 6–9, 2027, at the Rio Las Vegas. Please note: this year’s meeting begins Tuesday and concludes Friday — one day earlier than usual for our Las Vegas schedule.

This year’s theme, “Scaling Impact,” honors the spirit of identifying the gaps that limit progress, building solutions that work, and expanding them at scale to improve patient care, surgical quality, and the development of surgeons across their careers.

SAGES has always been a home for surgeons who innovate, teach, challenge assumptions, and move the field forward. In 2027, we will build on that legacy by focusing not only on new ideas, but on how to translate those ideas into measurable, lasting impact in our operating rooms, training programs, health systems, communities, and global partnerships.

This year’s program reflects that ambition. We are proud to feature an unprecedented level of collaboration with leading surgical societies, including ASCRS, AFS, AHS, AHPBA/IHPBA, ASDDI, and ASMBS. Together, we will explore how shared expertise can accelerate change and improve care at scale.

Our Digital Surgery programming will push attendees to think beyond the present, with sessions on artificial intelligence, telesurgery, robotics, telepresence, surgical data science, and the future of surgical practice. We will also continue to invest deeply in surgical education, with sessions focused on competency-based training, simulation, mentorship, technical skill transfer, and digital tools that can expand access to high-quality surgical learning around the world.

Returning favorites — including Disasters, Great Debates, and hands-on courses — will bring practical insights, lively discussion, and direct engagement with leaders in the field. Beyond traditional CME, we are also expanding non-CME programming in innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership, career development, wellness, mentorship, and community building.

And, in true SAGES fashion, there will be plenty of opportunities to connect, recharge, and celebrate. Highlights include Family Feud, wellness activities, and the always-anticipated Thursday Night Main Event with live music and dancing. Whether this is your first SAGES meeting or your thirtieth, you will find a welcoming community rooted in curiosity, inclusivity, mentorship, and friendship. And don’t forget: Friday is casual – no suits or ties required.

SAGES is your surgical home; if you can attend only one surgical meeting in 2027, make it this one.
