Biografia
Sergey Lyass, MD, is a general, laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon at the Center for Weight Loss at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Board certified in general surgery, Dr. Lyass is a member of several professional organizations including the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), Society of the American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES) and Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. He is the author of more than 100 papers and presentations on laparoscopic and bariatric surgery.

Dr. Lyass is committed to the advancement of laparoscopic bariatric surgery techniques and the exceptional treatment of the bariatric population.

Dr. Lyass received his medical degree from the Moscow II State Medical School (formerly known as Moscow Medical University). He completed an internship at the Institute of Cardio-Vascular Surgery n.a. Bakulev, in Moscow. He studied as a junior surgical resident in the Department of Surgery at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem, and then followed up with a senior residency in the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. Before returning to Cedars-Sinai to be senior surgical resident and then chief surgical resident in the Department of Surgery, Dr. Lyass performed as senior and chief resident at the Department of Surgery at Hadassah Hebrew University Medical Center. Following his extended residency training, Dr. Lyass completed a clinical fellowship as well as a research fellowship in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at Cedars-Sinai's Department of Surgery.

Dr. Lyass is fluent in Russian and Hebrew.
