Biografia
Dr. Jonathan Carter is a gastrointestinal surgeon at UCSF Medical Center who specializes in advanced laparoscopic (minimally invasive) and foregut surgery to treat conditions of the bile ducts, esophagus, gallbladder, intestines and stomach. Carter, who is certified by the American Board of Surgery, also is a bariatric surgeon and a member of the Surgical Hospitalist Program.

Carter earned undergraduate and medical degrees at Stanford University. He completed residency and fellowship training in laparoscopic surgery at UCSF, where he received the Julius R. Krevans Award for Clinical Excellence and the prestigious Fred H. and Esther E. Nusz Achievement Award. He has authored more than 25 peer-reviewed papers and was awarded the Young Investigator Award at the American Transplant Congress in 2005. Carter, an assistant professor of surgery at UCSF, received the 2008 Haile T. Debas resident teaching award. He is a member of the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
