The video shows minimal invasive procedure - knee arthroscopy of a young athlete and contains detailed step-by-step description. ‘The meniscus is a very important structure made of a special material called fibril cartilage. Each knee has two menisci. The primary function of a menisci are shock absorption and load transmission. When a meniscus is torn it can be quite painful. The main treatment for a meniscus tear is a minimally invasive surgery called a knee arthroscopy. If a meniscus is torn in its periphery, where is a good blood supply and it can heal, than it can be sutured back together to try to get it to heal. If the meniscus is torn in the inner portion of the meniscus where there is no blood supply, than the preferred treatment is removal of the torn portion. This is called partial menisectomy.’
