2014 EAU Baltic Meeting

We are very pleased to announce the 2014 EAU Baltic Meeting, which will take place in Vilnius, Lithuania‘s premier capital city, from 23 to 25 May 2014.

The EAU Baltic Meeting, preceded by the former EAU North Eastern European Meeting (NEEM) which was held from 2007 to 2010 respectively in Tampere, Vilnius, Szczecin and Riga, has not only revived the core aims of the NEEM but will further expand its reach by strengthening urologic expertise and research on the regional level, and stimulating innovative work among young urologists.

The EAU Baltic meeting will reinforce the expertise, scientific output and academic exchange among Baltic countries and link up our younger colleagues with the EAU and other international groups. Key opinion leaders from all over Europe and Asia will present, together with their Baltic colleagues, in a productive and dynamic environment.

The scientific programme will focus on the most controversial topics in prostate and bladder cancers, and the prevention of urinary stone disease with interactive sessions and expert discussions on optimal treatment strategies. Speakers from across Europe will present state-of-the art lectures, and experts from countries in the region will critically examine recent trends in clinical practice.

The meeting will also offer a platform for young and mid-career urologists from the Baltic and neighboring countries by presenting original clinical or research work, and thus support urology’s development in the region. To enhance professional skills and networking, awards, fellowships and training opportunities will be granted or promoted during the meeting. The cooperation of the European School of Urology and other EAU section offices will also enable organisers to provide mentored hands-on training in laparoscopy and robotics.

We look forward to an active participation with abstract contributions and a dynamic interaction with the audience during debates and plenary sessions. This meeting is certainly a must for any young aspiring urologist in the region, providing them with career opportunities and prospects.

With Vilnius as host city, first-time visitors will get a glimpse of Lithuania‘s rich cultural heritage and vibrant cosmopolitan life, and for returning guests there are certainly a lot to experience and relive with the country‘s warm hospitality.
